The kids are back in school, the temperatures are dropping, and it’s time for us to take a deep sigh of relief. I’m using my first few days of back-to-school “freedom” putting together mood boards for fall! I know it’s not quite fall yet, but I’m already feelin the season. My home decor mags are shouting about the new trends, my Polyvore account is sprinkling beautiful earthtone color palettes, and Yankee Candle is tempting me with “apple pumpkin” scents. Mmmmmmm….
Autum is coming….
I’ve put together my top 10 list for the fun new things that are hitting the racks in the world of interior design. These are culminated from Elle Decor, House Beautiful, and even Country Living, and these are the things I’ve been working into my shop over the last season. I will be putting together some beautiful mood boards to inspire us over the next month, so be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook to get weekly posts of beautiful trendy interiors. And join the conversation – show me yours and I’ll show you mine! Tag me in any posts of your fun and funky finds that fit this fall’s list of loves:
Inspired by the tiniest hint of changing leaves in the trees, I put together a sunny late summer afternoon collection featuring one of my favorite vintage statement mirrors in the shop and a rustic umbrella stand that I just added!
Quilts & Handwoven Textiles
What better way to keep warm as the temperatures drop than to snuggle up with a well-worn cozy blanket? I’m a sucker for quilts. I’ve been curating a nice collection all summer and have a perfect variety in color and style. And they’re not just great for utility – they can serve to add color, texture, and dynamics to a room decor by tossing them over a couch, hanging them decoratively, or even draped over an old ladder for a great rustic look!
7. Patterned Upholstery
We continue to see suzani embroidery from Central Asia popping up in all sorts of design styles, from boho to modern eclectic. Get ready to see more patterns on furniture too, not just the pillows and throws decorating them.
8. Statement Lamps
I am obsessed with this blue velvet club chair, and I don’t expect it to stick around the shop very long, with all the velvet furniture popping up in the A-lister’s home decor. Pairing navy with steely gray creates a modern chic room, and I accented it with quirky elements like a crane lamp, an oversized chess knight figurine, and a sunburst mirror.
